1. The Movies - there's usually a new movie out in time for the school holidays. One to see is the new Shaun the Sheep movie. I've heard good reviews of this.
2. Craft - Things I Am Grateful For - Story Window. This comes with a template. All you need to do is print off are the templates. Get the kids to cut them out. The kids decide what they are grateful for and then they draw and colour in the pictures. They slide their pictures through the window.
3. Cooking - If you usually don't have enough time on the weekends to cook with your kids, now is the time to find a recipe that they can read and follow along with you. It's a great opportunity to do something fun together and at the same time they get some reading practise in. I recommend making some ANZAC biscuits. Just in time for ANZAC Day. This pic is of some biscuits I made with my son using a Taste recipe. We made them a smaller size.
My suggestions for you:
Anzac Ted is timely as ANZAC Day is almost upon us.
The Things I Love is written by Trace Moroney, a well known author of books about feelings. This special book is for a child to collect things that make them feel happy, the things they are grateful for, and the things they love.
Sugar Rush is about what happens when you eat too much sugar!
Thank You Wishes is a lovely book about wishes and dreams and thank yous.
Enjoy the holidays!
